LUCA, on Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, has uninterrupted views of the beach and the Caribbean Sea and the location is unrivaled.
LUCA is the brainchild of the highly successful team that brought us Ragazzi - one of the Island's busiest and most popular eateries for the last seventeen years. Andi Marcher and Paolo Polloni, owners and business partners, describe the exquisite menu as "Italian-based, fused with international flavours". It has been given a modern, inventive spin by their new creative chef, Roman Kleinrath from Austria, formerly a chef at Ragazzi. The results are amazing. Everything is made fresh daily in LUCA's kitchen, from breads to pastas to desserts. Roman sources the freshest locally grown produce possible. He even catches the fish for his delicate seafood dishes on his days off! So, freshness of product and simplicity of presentation sums up the dining experience at LUCA. The daily specials and a six-course tasting menu (on request) also highlights the team's on-going creativity.
Sleek and stylish, LUCA oozes smart sophistication. The team's attention to detail is apparent everywhere, from the marble floors to the Venetian hand-blown glass lights. Five Italian craftsmen were imported from Europe and spent six weeks installing the wood panelling and other finishing touches, including the leather upholstered banquettes. LUCA's fabulous glass-encased wine cellars, hold several thousand bottles, representing a choice of over 1,100 different varieties and in 2016 was once again awarded the 'Best of Award of Excellence' by the Wine Spectator.
The restaurant is managed by the very capable and delightful Cheryl Pokoradi from Canada. Her attention to detail is meticulous and she will provide warming wraps on chilly nights, reading glasses to those who have left theirs at home and recommendations on wine and food if you need direction. We hope you enjoy LUCA as much as we have.
Chef Roman Kleinrath was born in a small town in Austria where he apprenticed as a chef. He later became a full-time chef when he moved to Vienna, working in some of the finest restaurants in this stunning city. He later moved to Cayman, working at Ragazzi for six years, then moving to Australia for a stint before returning to LUCA as head chef. Roman brings a fresh, inventive style to LUCA, using local produce and seafood he catches himself on his days off!
